Assam flood situation improves; one lakh return home

In Assam, nearly one lakh people have returned home during last 48 hours in the flood affected areas as the water level receded. Official sources said that with the recovery of five more bodies during last 24 hours the death toll has mounted to 32 in rain related incidents while six persons remained missing. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today made an aerial survey of flood affected Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Sivsagar and Dibrugarh districts.Gogoi met flood hit people and assured all possible help. The Chief Minister instructed district administrations to prepare separate relief and rehabilitation plans for each affected districts.Gogoi also laid stress on construction of houses build on raised platform – Chaanghar – under Indira Awas Yojna in the flood prone areas.
