The over all flood situations in Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi districts of Barak Valley has gradually improved due to continuous receding of the water levels of almost all the rivers of the valley. <br/><br/>Flood water have also started receding from a few number of flood affected areas but many areas still remain submerged. <br/><br/>The current wave of flood in the valley has affected over five lakh people spreading over one thousand villages out of which four hundred forty fifty two villages are in the worst-hit Karimganj district. The floods have so far claimed six lives in the valley.
