Assam Fisheries dept expects to double fish production in state under Pradhan Mantri Matysa Sampada Yojana

In Assam, the Fisheries department is expected to double  the fish production in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Matysa Sampada Yojana.<br />'' <br />'' Talking to AIR, the Commissioner- Secretary in the Fisheries department Rakesh Kumar said that Assam produces 3.35 lakh MT of fish annually. He said that target has been set to produce 7 lakh MT of fish in 5 years under the Pradhan Mantri Matysa Sampada Yojna.<br />'' <br />'' Mr. Kumar said that the Assam government has sent a proposal of 5 thousand crore rupees under the scheme for 5 years. He further said that 25 lakh people are engaged in fish farming in Assam. <br />''
