<span style="color: #222222;">In Assam, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tabled budget for the year 2020-21 with a slew of welfare measures. The budget proposed to provide free and dedicated bus services for women and senior citizens in Guwahati under the Bhraman Sarathi scheme. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">An amount of 2800 crore rupees is earmarked for the Orunodoi scheme under which annually 10 thousand rupees to be given to 27 lakh poor households through DBT. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr. Sarma says that 25 lakh rupees will be given per school for 200 elementary schools on pilot basis for infrastructure development. The Assam government is to give free sanitary napkins to girls in 6th to 12th standards government and government-aided schools.<br />'' <br />'' The budget announced to start 5 new polytechnic institutes,  7 new government colleges and 2 medical college among others. An amount of 500 rupees as an additional honorarium to be given to Mid Day meal workers of the state. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Assamese language is to be made a compulsory subject in all English and other medium schools up to 10th standard, except Barak valley, Bodo inhabited areas and 2 hill districts.</span><br />
