Assam: Curfew imposed in Baksa district & Tulsibil outpost area in Kokrajhar district

In Assam, curfew has been imposed in entire Baksa district and Tulsibil outpost area in Kokrajhar district this evening as preventative measures. Assam Home Commissioner G D Tripathi confirmed this.

Banned outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sangbijit group) killed 11 innocent persons in Kokrajhar and Baska district last night. Our Correspondent reports that the Centre has deployed ten additional companies of para-military force as sought by the Assam government.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has instructed the police to deal firmly with the current situation in Bodoland Territorial Area Districts. Union Home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde called up Tarun Gogoi today and assured all possible helps to contain the situation. Ten columns of army are staging flag march to instill confidence among people in the violence hit areas.

Six companies of Quick Response Teams have been deployed in Kokrajhar, Dhubri and Baksa..Kokrajhar district administration today held peace meeting and urged all to maintain peace and harmony. Opposition parties condemned the incidents. AIUDF demanded CBI inquiry into the killing of innocent people.
