Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi urged the Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh government to ensure safety of the people of Assam who are residing there. Official sources in Guwahati said that Mr Gogoi asked both his counterparts to take stern action against the culprits who are spreading rumors and threatening to attack people from Assam and other parts of the North-East. Both the Chief Ministers assured of best possible security measures to the people of Assam .Mr.Gogoi also asked people not to be panicked on the rumours being spread by miscreants. Meanwhile, Assam government has appointed a nodal officer and set up a control room to monitor the matter. A team Assom Gana Parishad,AGP yesterday met Union Home Minister and urged him to ensure security of the people of Assam who are staying in Southern states. A 24 member CBI team reached Kokrajhar as a part of the investigation into the recent violence. They will visit Maagurmari and Joypur area.CBI is being investigated seven cases . On the other hand, security has been intensified at Rangia in Kamrup district after angry mob set ablaze a public bus and wooden bride this morning. They are protesting the last night’s incident where miscreants torched a vehicle at Kaaurbaha in Baska district and wanted to know the whereabouts of the driver of the car. The mob also pelted stones to public buses at Udiyana area in Rangia.Later, security forces resorted to blank firing to disperse the angry mob.State Home Secretary says, indefinite Curfew has been imposed in Rangia revenue circle in Kamrup district.
