The Assam Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi and his ministerial colleagues have declared their assets and liabilities for public view.The assets were declared on website of the Assam Government following pressure from the All India Congress Committee. The AICC general secretary in-charge of Assam affairs Mr. Digvijay Singh earlier fixed the target of 15th January to declare the assets of the State Ministers. The step was taken following alleged corruption charges against several ministers of the Gogoi-led Cabinet and the demand of opposition parties to declare their assets. The Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi who owns a Honda City car has the asset of merely 54 lakh rupees. Among the ministers who posted their assets on website, the richest minister is Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma with assets of 91 lakh rupees. The ministers have, however, not declared the assets of their wives and dependents.
