The district administration clamped indefinite curfew in entire Kokrajhar and Dhubri districts of Assam today. State Law and Order IGP said unidentified miscreants shot dead three people on Monday night at Raaniguli in Kokrajhar district while angry mob blocked National Highway number 31 at Beltali in Dhubri district in protest of the killings of 3 people at Raaniguli.Two army personnel were also injured in stone pelting by the mob.Security forces resorted to lath charge and blank firing. After that, the district administration re-imposed indefinite curfew as a precautionary measure in Dhubri district. Night curfew also continues in Chirang district. The total death toll has mounted to 73 in the recent violence.Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has requested the Centre to allow the CBI to take over all cases of the recent violence. Talking to newsmen in Guwahati, Gogoi said instruction had been given to seize all illegal arms that is in possession in the violence marred areas. The Chief Minister also said utmost care was being taken of pregnant women and children at the relief camps.
