In Assam, 14 more bodies were recovered in the river Brahmaputra from the spot of Monday’s ferryboat capsize area at Burha-Burhi Char in Dhubri district. 10 of them have been identified. The divers of the National Disaster Response Force, Army, BSF and Police so far recovered around 60 bodies from the spot of the worst-ever boat tragedy. Post mortem of 30 of the recovered bodies have been completed. According to official sources, over 200 passengers of the ill-fated ferry are still missing.Bangladesh authorities have assured the Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri district to offer all kinds of assistance to carry out search operation of the bodies floating in the neighbouring country in the downstream of Brahmaputra River. They also said they will hand over the bodies to the Dhubri district authority respectfully. The assurance was given during a flag meeting held between the Dhubri district Deputy Commissioner Kumud Chandra Kalita and the district Magistrate of adjoining Kurigram district of the neighbouring country. Bangladesh Rifles and Border Security Force authorities were also present in the flag meeting.AIR Correspondent reports that Union Shipping Minister G.K.Vasan is also arriving at Dhubri on Saturday next at the instruction of the Prime Minister to review the river transport system and find ways for their renovation in the riverine districts of the State.
