In Assam, a one-day Special Session of the Legislative Assembly was held today to discuss the Assam- Bangladesh border issues. Addressing the Assembly, chief minister Mr.Tarun Gogoi clarified that ASSAM would reclaim 1,240 acres of land from Bangladesh under the land deal. Defying the allegations made by the opposition parties, he said that the land deal would benefit Assam. Mr. Gogoi also said that state government would publish white paper on the land deal issue. The opposition parties Asom Gana Parishad, AIUDF and BJP alleged that the deal was against the interest of the state. At the end of the schedule proceeding, the Spekar Pranab Gogoi adjourned the House sine-die.
