Assam asks teachers to undergo COVID-19 test as state mulls over resuming classes

In Assam, the Education Department has requested teachers to undergo COVID-19 tests. In a notice issued by the department told all teachers of schools, colleges and universities to do COVID tests from today to 30th of this month.<br />''<br />''The notice further instructed teachers to attend educational institutes from 1st of next month.<br />''<br />''Commenting on this development, Principal Secretary in the Education Department B. Kalyan Chakravarthy said that the Assam Government is mulling to open educational institutes from 1st of September subject to approval from the Centre.<br />''<br />''The Department has also prepared an action plan on resuming of classes. But, Mr. Chakravarthy said that resumption of classes would depend on the approval of the Centre. He, however, said that if classes can't be resumed from 1st of September, online classes will continue. He informed that from 1st of next month, online classes will be conducted from schools and colleges instead of home.<br />
