In Assam, polling for the six Lok Sabha seats came to end this evening. Barring a few stray incidents, polling remained peaceful. As per initial report, around 70 percent polling has been reported.

Meanwhile, 6 persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in killing of one police constable at Harabhanga area under Tulsibil police station in Kokrajhar district today.

IGP L R Bishnoi said that one police constable died and another two cops including an ASI were injured in Kokrajhar district following rumours spread that all votes are being casted to one particular political party.

Bishnoi said that over thousand people gathered and pelted stones at polling parties when they were trying to control the situation. The situation is under control now but polling has been stopped at 7 polling booths of the area.
