Assam Government has appointed Mohan Chandra Malakar, a retired Indian Forest Service Officer, as the State Information Commissioner. Malakar had retired as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) in the State. The post of State Information Commissioner had been lying vacant since February this year.
