Three hardcore National Democratic Front of Bodoland, NDFB (Songbijit faction) terrorists were killed in an encounter with police in Tinkhuti area of Assam's Sonitpur district today, a top police official said.

PTI quoting Sonitpur Superintendent of Police reports that in a joint operation launched by police and CRPF's Cobra team at Naojan adjoining Assam Arunachal Pradesh border since last night, a group of five NDFB (S) cadres fired on the security personnel this morning.

In the retaliatory exchange of fire three NDFB(S) extremists were killed and two escaped under forest cover.

The security personnel recovered 3 pistols, 11 rounds of live magazines and one Chinese hand grenade from the slain militants, the SP added.
