In Assam, two National Democratic Front of Bodoland militants have been apprehended during a joint Army and Police operation at Basbari village in Kokrajhar district today. The militants have been identified as Pranjit Basumatary of Runikata and Hanggama Basumatray of Gurubasha in the district. Security forces recovered one 9 m.m. pistol with two rounds of ammunition and a handmade rifle from the possession of the militants. Police said the militants were involved in the extortion threats to the doctors of Kokrajhar Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital this month. As many as 30 doctors of the hospital abstained from their duties for around one week following repeated extortion threats of the militants.
