The Asiatic Society conferred prestigious Indira Gandhi Gold Plaque on the Union Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee in Kolkata on Monday. The General Secretary of the Asiatic Society Dr Ramakanta Chakraborty handed over the award to Mr Mukherjee for his outstanding contribution towards human progress and international understandings . Earlier Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Yassar Arafat, Amartya Sen received the prestigious award.
