Indians have bagged one silver and two bronze medals on the opening day of the inaugural Asian Youth Athletics Championships. At the Qatar Sports Club stadium in Doha on Saturday, Ashish Bhalothia won a silver in boys shot put with a throw of 17.75 metres. The bronze medals came through Anumol Thampi in girls 3000 metres race, and Seema Sangwan in girls discus throw. Thampi clocked 10 minutes, 24.98 seconds in her race while Seema threw the discus to a distance of 41.14 metres. India are being represented by 22 athletes, including nine girls, in the event.
