Asian markets ends lower

Asian markets ended lower, today, with investors looking ahead to major events later in the week. So Japan's Nikkei-225 shed 0.1 percent; Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 0.7 percent; China's Shanghai Composite index dropped 0.8 percent; South Korea's Kospi index slipped 0.3 percent and Singapore's Straits Times index lost 0.2 percent.In Europe also, stocks edged lower, after Moody's Investors Service cut the outlook on the European Union to negative, and warned that the region could lose its Aaa debt rating. So key indices, London's FTSE-100, France's CAC-40 and Germany's DAX fell between 0.2 percent and 0.4 percent in intra-day trade today. Meanwhile, European Central Bank President President Mario Draghi yesterday told European lawmakers that he is open to the central bank buying euro zone government bonds on the secondary market, reviving speculation that the ECB could step up its purchase of bonds issued by troubled euro-zone governments.
