Asian Jr. Athletics: India finish 6th in overall medals tally with 2 gold, 5 silver, 5 bronze

India have ended their campaign in the Asian Junior Athletics Championship with a haul of two gold, five silver and five bronze medals to finish sixth in the overall medals tally.The two gold medals for India came on the fourth and concluding day of the event at Taipei City today, through sprinter Dutee Chand and women's 4×400 metres relay team. Chand outclassed her opponents and won the junior women's 200 metres gold with a time of 23.74 seconds. Dutee won her second gold as she anchored the 4×400 metre relay team to victory. The quartet of V V Jisha, Jessy Joseph, G K Vijaya Kumari and Dutee romped home, ahead of the Thai and the home team. India also won two silver and two bronze today. The silver medal winners were Navjeet Kaur Dhillon in discus throw and Heptathlete Swapna Barman who garnered 4962 points.The two Bronze medals came through Sanjivni Jadhav in women's 3,000 metres and Sharwan Kharb in the men's 5000 metres. China finished on top in the medals tally with 12 gold,10 silver and two bronze. Japan were second with 11 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze. Qatar followd in the third place winning six gold, two silver and one bronze. Hosts Chinese Taipei had haul of 4 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze.
