Asian Games: Sandhyarani Devi settles for Silver

In the Asian Games in China today, India's Sandhyarani Devi settled for a silver in the women's sanshou 60kg wushu event after losing to Khadijeh Azadpour of Iran in the final. Sandhayarani lost 0-2 to the Iranian to fetch India's second medal in wushu.Yesterday, Mayanglambam Bimoljit Singh won a bronze in the men's 60kg sanshou event. Indian shooters drew a blank for the third successive day with a below-par performance. The men's hockey team beat Bangladesh 9-0 to record their second straight victory in as many matches, but the women lost to South Korea by a solitary first half penalty corner goal. In other sports, Pugilist Vikas Krishan booked a pre-quarterfinal berth in the 60 kg category, and the Badminton mixed doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and V. Diju also entered the pre-quarter-finals after receiving a first round bye. A per latest reports, India had a tally of One Gold, 5 Silver and 7 Bronze on the fifth day of competitons today.China continue to lead the medal table in the 16th Asiad at Guangzhou. The hosts led the table with a haul of 86 Gold, 35 Silver and 34 Bronze, when reports last came in on the fifth day of competitions today.
