In the 16th Asian Games on Monday, India won One Gold, One Silver and One Bronze medal. India's tally now stands at 6 Gold, 12 Silver and 18 Bronze. The Gold was by the Men's Doubles Tennis team of Somdev Devvarman and Sanam Singh. In the final, the sixth seeded pair shocked second seeded Chinese combination of Gong Maoxin and Li Zhe 6-3, 6-7, 10-8. Somdev earlier also entered the Men's Singles Final of the tennis event, the first Indian to do in the history of the Asian Games. In the semi-final, he defeated Japan's Tatasuma Ito 6-2, 0-6, 6-3 to set up the summit-clash with top seed Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan. In the mixed tennis doubles, Sania Mirza and Vishnu Vardhan settled for the Silver, after losing to the Taipei pair of Chan Yung Jan and Yang Tsung Hua 6-4, 1-6, 2-10. In the morning, the Men's archery team won a bronze in the recurve event. The team beat Chinese-Taipei in bronze medal match.
