Asian Games: India bags silver in athletics, bronze in tennis

In the Incheon Asian Games, India bagged a Silver in Athletics, and Bronze in Tennis today. In Athletics, Khushbir Kaur finished second in the Women's 20km Race Walk to give India it's first medal of the day. Runners Poovamma Raju, Mandeep Kaur, Kunhu Mohammad and Rajiv Arokia, and Hammer Thrower Manju Bala will be seen in the Finals of their respective events, later today.The Silver medal was followed by a Bronze by Yuki Bhambri who lost his semi-final match against Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan. The pair of Sania Mirza and Prarthana Thombare is now playing against the Chinese Taipei's Su Wei Hsieh and Chin Wei Chan. Sania will also be seen in action in the Mixed Doubles semi-finals Saketh Myneni. Besides, the pairs of Yuki Bhambri and Divij Sharan, and Sanam Singh and Saketh will figure in the Men's Doubles last-4 today.Earlier in the morning, Indian Archers missed out on Bronze in the Women's Recurve team event.In other results, wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Babita Kumari stormed into their respective semi-finals. However, Satywart Kadian and Jyoti made an exit in the last-8 stage.In Boxing, MC Mary Kom and Laishram Sarita Devi sealed semi-final berths. Pooja Rani is yet to play her quarterfinal bout, while Devendro Laishram will begin his campaign with a Round-of-16 match.In Table Tennis, both the Men's and Women's teams lost their preliminary round matches.In Kabaddi, India defeated Bangladesh in the preliminary round in both Men's and Women's section.The Indian Women's Basketball team lost to Japan in the quarterfinals, 37-70.China is currently at the top of the medals tally, with Korea second and Japan third. With 3 Gold, 5 Silver and 21 Bronze, India is 12th.
