Asian Games: India bag 4 medals on day 11

On the 11th day of Asian Games, India bagged four medals. The medals came in the from of a silver in Men's discus throw, two bronze came from boxing and another came from sailing. Indian men's hockey team entered final of the Asian Games. India defeated South Korea 1-Nil in semi final. For India Akashdeep singh scored the lone goal. The country has a wait of 16 years for the Hockey men's gold. With this victory India has also qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympics. The finals will be played on Thursday against Pakistan. In other semi final Pakistan defeated Malaysia 6-5 on penalties.India's Vikas Gowda bagged silver in the men's discus throw event. His throw was of 62.58 metre for the silver medal. The gold was taken by Iran's Ehsan Hadadi with throw of 65.11 metres. Middle distance runners, Tintu Luka, Sushma Devi and Sajeesh Joseph have qualified for the 800 metres final in their respective categories.In Sailing, Varsha Gautham and Aishwarya Neduncheziyan won bronze in the 29er women's two person dinghy race.Earlier today, MC Mary Kom stormed into the finals of the Flyweight category. Whereas, Sarita Devi Laishram and Pooja Rani have settled for a Bronze each after they lost their semi-final matches. However, Sarita Devi lodged a protest against her semi final loss for biased judgement. The protest was over ruled by the authorities. In the Men's section, Satish Kumar in + 91 kg weight class and Vikas Krishan in the 75 kg weight class advanced to the semi finals today. Shiva Thapa and Laishram Devendro Singh lost in quarters.In Kabbadi, India thrashed Pakistan 23-11 in men's team preliminary Group match and women's team defeated South Korea 45-26 to advance.In Table Tennis, Achanta Sharth Kamal and Somyajeet Ghosh along with their partners booked pre quarter final berth in men's doubles event.In Wrestling, Krishnakant Yadav was placed in the final of repechage for a bronze but he lost the match to Iran's grappler. Ravinder Singh, and Harpreet Singh lost their respective opening round bouts of the Greco Roman category.In Taekwondo, Latika Bhandari in women's 53 kg divison lost in quarterfinals.In Sepaktakraw, Indian men's team lost to South Korea and Malaysia, women's team lost to Laos in a prelim round match.India has 6 Gold 8 Silver and 32 Bronze and is sitting at 10th position on the medals tally.
