Asian Games, Day 6: India bags 3 Bronze, Hopes up for gold

On 6th day of the Incheon Asian Games, India have bagged three Bronze medals and brightened hope for a gold. The overall medals tally for India is at 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 13 Bronze.Indian Rowers have ended their campaign by handing out three bronze medal for the nation overall. Today, Swaran Singh clinched the Bronze in the Men's Singles Sculls Finals, while India finished third in the Men's Eight Final. Dushyant Dushiant had bagged the first Bronze yesterday.The other bronze came from shooting as trio of Shreyasi Singh, Shagun Chowdhary and Varsha Varman bettered a rather sour day for Indian shooters. They ended third in the Women's Team Trap Finals. This was India's 6th Bronze in Shooting.In other results, Indian Archers stormed into the finals of the Compound Men's Team event. In the semi-finals, the Indian team of Rajat Chauhan, Sandeep Kumar and Abhishek Verma defeated the Iranian team, 231-227. They will meet champion South Korea in the finals. However, the Women's Compound team, however, lost to Chinese Taipei in the semi-finals. In the Compound Individual events, Trisha Deb beats Iran's Shabnam Sarlak 142-131 to reach semi finals in women's section and Abhishek Verma beats South Korea's Yonghee Choi 147-142 in men's section to enter semi finals.In Badminton, PV Sindhu crashed out after losing to Bellaetrix Manuputty of Indonesia 22-20, 16-21, 20-22. Saina Nehwal progressed to the quarterfinals beating Soraya A. of Iran, 21-7, 21-6. In the Men's singles section, Kidambi Srikanth and Parupalli Kashyap booked last-16 berth. Mixed Doubles pair of Manu Attri and Sikki Reddy, moved to the last 16 stage and men's doubles pair of Mannu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy advanced to last-8.In Boxing, Laishram Devendro Singh gets walk-over against Albathali Fahad of Kuwait in Men's Light Fly catogery to be in pre-quarterfinals. Manoj Kumar in 64 kg weight class will figure in his opening round bout in a short while. Shiva Thapa and Akhil Kumar advanced to the pre-quarterfinals yesterday.In Tennis, Yuki Bhambri, Sanam Singh and Ankita Raina booked pre-quarterfinal berths. The Men's Doubles team of Saketh Myneni and Sanam Singh advanced to the second round. The Mixed Doubles pair of Ankita Raina and Divij Sharan advanced to pre quarter finals.In Squash the men's team defeated Japan 3-Nil and will be playing Malayasia in another group match today. The women's team defeated China 3-Nil.In a Hockey Group match Indian men's team is defeated by arch rivals Pakistan. In a high voltage clash, India lost to Pakistan 1-2. The score was tied at 1-1 till the last quarter but in the last minutes Pakistan made a possible void that found the Indian net. This was India's first lost at the group stage.In Sepaktakraw, Indian men's and women's team lost to Korean counterparts Nil-3.In, Equestrian events, Individual Cross Country and Team Cross Country India finished 5th.
