Asian Games, Day 11: MC Mary Kom storms into finals

In the Incheon Asian Games, Olympian MC Mary Kom stormed into the finals of the Flyweight category, a short while ago. In the semi-final bout, she defeated Le Thi Bang of Vietnam, 3-0 assuring a Silver medal for India. Sarita Devi Laishram and Pooja Rani are yet to play their semi-final matches.In the Men's section, Shiva Thapa, Laishram Devendro Singh, Satish Kumar and Vikas Krishan will figure in the quarterfinals today.In Wrestling, Ravinder Singh, Krishnakant Yadav and Harpreet Singh lost their respective opening round bouts of the Greco Roman category.Earlier in the morning, Ashwini Akkunji and Jithin Paul qualified for the Finals of the 400-metre Hurdles. In the Heats, both finished at the second spot in their respective sections. However, other Indian in the Men's section, Joseph Abraham could not qualify.Later today, Tintu Luka and Sajeesh Joseph will figure in the heats of their respective events, while Siddhanth Thingalaya will compete in the Men's 110m Hurdles Final.In Discus Throw, after Seema Punia's Gold, Vikas Gowda will be looking to give India another yellow metal today. The Men's Hockey team will clash with Korea for a place in the finals.Among India's other results today, in Shooting, the trio of Mairaj Ahmad Khan, Parampal Singh and Arozepal Sandhu finished seventh in Skeet Men's Team Final.In Taekwondo, Latika Bhandari and Jaswant advanced to their respective quarterfinals.The Women's Kabaddi team defeated Korea, 45-26 in a Group match. The Men's team will take on Pakistan in a group match later in the day.In Table Tennis, the pairs of Soumyajit Ghosh and Harmeet Desai, and Achanta Sharath Kamal and Amalraj Anthony advanced to the Men's Doubles pre-quarterfinals. However, the duo of Amalraj and Madhurika Patkar bowed out in Mixed Doubles.China continues to rule the medals table. It has, so far, bagged 113 Gold, 72 Silver and 54 Bronze. Korea is second, while Japan is third. With 6 Gold, 7 Silver and 29 Bronze, India is at 9th spot.
