India failed to secure a single medal on the fourth day of competitions in the 16th Asian Games at Guangzhou, China, today. The day saw pugilist Suranjoy Singh entering the pre-quarter finals in the fly weight (52 kg) category, with a thumping 7-2 win over his Thailand rival. But the shooters came a cropper for the second successive day. The women's hockey team lost to Japan 0-3 in their second game. In swimming, Virdhawal Khade was the lone Indian swimmer to create a splash at the pool as he qualified for the men's 50 metres butterfly event. With no additions to the kitty, India's medals tally remains static with one gold, four silver and three bronze. It raises the possibility of slipping further down on the medals tally from yesterday's seventh position.
