In the Incheon Asian Games this morning, Olympian Abhinav Bindra claimed a Bronze each in the Individual and Team events of the 10-metre Air Rifle category. In the individual section, Abhinav finished at the third spot with a total of 187.1 points. The team event also saw the trio of Abhinav, Ravi Kumar and Sanjeev Rajput finish third.With these two Bronze, shooters have now claimed 6 of India's total 8 medals, which includes a Gold by Jitu Rai in the 50-metre Pistol event on the opening day.Abhinav Bindra had, earlier, announced that this will be his last Asian Games. In other Shooting events, India is currently figuring in Men's 25-metre Rapid Fire Pistol – Stage 1, and the Women's Trap. Harpreet Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Pemba Tamang are featuring in the Men's 25-metre Rapid Fire Pistol – Stage 1, while Shreyasi Singh, Seema Tomar and Shagun Chowdhary are trying their luck in the Women's Trap.Events of Archery have also begun. Deepika Kumari, Bombayla Devi Laishram, Pranitha Vardhineni and Laxmirani Majhi are figuring in the Women's Recurve Individual and Team events, while Rajat Chauhan, Abhishek Verma, Sandeep Kumar and Govindas Thokchom are featuring in the Compound Men's Individual and Team events.Later today, in Squash, Saurav Ghoshal will play for the Gold medal. He will lock horns with Almezayen Abdullah of Kuwait. Saurav yesterday assured India of at least a Silver, while Dipika Pallikal had settled for a Bronze after losing in the semi-finals.In Wushu (a sport derived from Chinese Martial Arts), Sanathoi Devi and Narender Grewal will play their respective semi-final matches. They assured at least two Bronze medals for India.Lifters Sathish Sivalingam, Katulu Ravi Kumar and Punam Yadav, who won medals in Glasgow Commonwealth Games, will be vying for top honours in their respective categories.The Indian Men's Hockey team will take on Oman in a group match.In Gymnastics, Ashish Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Dipa Karmarkar and Pranati Nayak will figure in their respective categories.China is currently at the top of the medals tally, with Korea second and Japan third. India is at the 13th spot.
