India began its Asian Football Confederation Under-22 Championship Qualifiers in style as it defeated Lebanon 5-2 in the opening match at Sultan Qaboos Stadium in Muscat yesterday. Alwyn George and skipper Jeje Lalpekhlua scored two goals each while the striker Mandeep Singh scored one goal. For Lebanon, Omar Kurdi and Abdul Fattah scored a goal each. India has been placed in Group-A of the tournament with Oman, Iraq, Lebanon, UAE and Turkmenistan.
