Asian Athletics: India grabs Gold, Bronze

India won a gold and a bronze on the second day of the 14th Asian Junior Athletics championships. In Hanoi on Friday, Suresh Kumar claimed the gold in the men's 10,000 metres race, in 31minutes, 53.68 seconds. Japanese Shitara Keita won the silver, while Hayashi Shingo bagged the bronze. Ankit Sharma added a bronze to India's kitty in men's long jump by clearing 7.77metres. Lin Ching Hsuan of Chinese Taipei won the gold and Sukhasvasti Ayudhaya Supanara of Thailand got the silver. India have now won five medals, including two gold. On the first day, India won a gold, a silver and a bronze. Hammer thrower Harinder Singh cleared a new meet record distance of 71.53 metres to fetch the gold. In women's long jump, Renubala Mahanta snatched a silver leaping 6.11metres while Sharda Ghule settled with a bronze with a mark of 6.05 metres.
