Asia Cup : India take on Bangladesh in Dhaka today

Defending champions India will take on Hosts Bangladesh today in the Asia Cup 2012 tournament. Buoyed by the victory against Sri Lanka by a margin of 50 runs in their first match on Tuesday, India will be looking to confirm a berth in the finals by defeating Bangladesh ahead of their next high voltage encounter with arch rivals Pakistan. Hosts Bangladesh, on the other hand, desperately need to win against India to keep themselves in contention, following their loss to Pakistan in the inaugural match. The day and night encounter between India and Bangladesh will begin at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka at 1.30 p.m IST. Pakistan has already qualified for the final with a victory against Sri Lanka by six wickets yesterday and a victory against Bangladesh in the inaugural match of the tournament.AIR correspondent reports that defending Champions India who began their campaign on winning note against Sri Lanka in asia cup 2012 are hoping to sustain the momentum and seal a berth in the final with a victory against Hosts Bangladesh. India have played twenty three ODI's against Bangladesh out of which India has won twenty one and lost only two. In the last game between the two countries in ICC World Cup group match India beat Bangladesh by 87 runs at the same venue in Mirpur last year. But then Cricket is a game of glorious uncertainities and Bangladesh who are in a do or die situation are hoping to pull off a surprise victory in order to keep themselves in contention in the tournament for a final berth.
