Asia Championship: Saina Nehawal, PV Sindhu enter quarterfinal

India's Saina Nehwal and P V Sindhu have reached the quarter-finals of the Women's Singles at the 200,000 US Dollar Badminton Asia Championships in China. At Wuhan today, World No. 1 Saina overcame Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in three games 21-14 10-21 21-10 in a women's singles match that lasted for an hour and seven minutes. Saina had got a bye and a walkover in the first two rounds. The Olympic bronze-medallist will next take on fifth seed Tzu Ying Tai of Chinese Taipei. Eighth seed Sindhu has set up a clash with top seed Li Xuerui of China in the quarterfinals. She brushed aside Macau's Teng Iok U 21-8, 21-9 in another women's singles match at the Wuhan Sports Center Gymnasium. However, in the Men's Singles, Parupalli Kashyap bowed out losing to seventh seed Zhengming Wang of China in three games 23-21 17-21 8-21. Among other Indians, the men's doubles pair of Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy B, and the mixed doubles pair of Arun Vishnu and Aparna Balan, went down against their respective Chinese combinations.
