ASI has set up expert committee for restoration and preservation of oldest National Flag: G Kishan Reddy

<span style="color: #222222;">The Centre has said the oldest National Flag is in delicate condition which was hoisted on 15th August 1947 at St. George Fort in Chennai. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Culture and Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy said, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has set up an expert committee for restoration and preservation of the oldest National Flag. He said estimated cost of the project is 13 lakh rupees.<br />''<br />''Mr Reddy said the scientific studies have been carried out by the ASI with the Textile Committee of Chennai and Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam using non-destructive techniques prior to start of conservation of the National Flag.<br />''<br />''The Minister said complete photo and video documentation has also been done. On the basis of scientific studies and suggestion of the expert committee, the conservation and preservation work is being carried out so as to complete the project at the earliest.</span><br />
