The Punjab unit of the BJP today unanimously elected Ashwani Sharma as President of the state unit for a period of three years. He takes over from Prof Rajinder Bhandari. <br/><br/>Immediately after his election, Mr. Sharma addressed party workers and sought their cooperation for strengthening the party. Later addressing media persons, Mr Sharma pointed out that his primary task would be to strengthen the party as another two years are left for the assembly polls in the State.<br/><br/>Talking about alliance partner, the Shiromani Akali Dal he said that the BJP had a very healthy and cordial relationship with the Akalis.
