In the Ashes, Chris Rogers and Steven Smith scored centuries yesterday as Australia dominated the first day of the second Test at Lord's. Opting to bat, the visitors and the current holders of the urn got off to a solid start, with Rogers and David Warner scoring at a great pace. Warner was out for 38 in the first session, which brought Smith in the middle. He and Rogers played some brilliant cricket throughout the day and helped the Aussies fight back from their 169-run defeat in the first Test at Cardiff. When the stumps were drawn, Rogers was at 158, his highest Test score, and Smith at 129. Their partnership of 259 also broke an 85-year record for Australia's second-wicket stand at Lord's. The Aussies, who opted Mitchell Marsh and Peter Nevill for Shane Watson and Brad Haddin for this game, have not won an Ashes series in England since 2001. After the 5-match Test series, England and Australia are scheduled to play a T-20 and 5 ODIs.
