The two-day summit of Asia and Europe(ASEM) has strongly called for reforming International Monetry Fund (IMF). The Brussels Declaration released at the end of the two-day Asia-Europe Summit at the Belgian capital said that the IMF quota share should be shifted to dynamic emergent markets and developing countries by at least five percent from over represented to under represented countries. The leader of the 48 countries which included Vice President Hamid Ansari attending the summit also cautioned that the voting power of the poorest countries should be protected when the voting rights were shifted. The meet also called for actions to encourage more sustainable models of development, benefit developing countries and reduce poverty. It noted that the successful conclusion of the Doha Development Agenda would provide powerful economic stimulus for global sustained recovery.
