The Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) -India Car Rally, 2012 entered India via Manipur border town Moreh on Saturday morning.Altogether 112 participants in thirty one cars crossed the border bridge at the Lokchao River that demarcates the territories of Myanmar and India.They have been accorded a rousing welcome at the border town led by Manipur Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam.Later, the participants of the Rally were accorded a grand civic reception at the historic Kangla Fort in Imphal led by State Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh.A huge round of applause from local school children and people, standing on both sides of the road and waving miniature flags of the eleven participating countries, greeted them.Receiving the participants, the Chief Minister said, the proposed Imphal-Mandalay bus service is expected to start very soon. He said, an agreement in this regard is likely to be signed during the forthcoming visit of Myanmar President to New Delhi early next year.Mr. Ibobi Singh flagged off the Car Rally from Imphal this afternoon for Nagaland capital city Kohima.The ASEAN-India Car Rally was flagged off on the 26th of the last month from Yogjakarta Palace Square in Indonesia.
