ASEAN, East Asia Summits: PM meets Wen Jiabao in Cambodia

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh met the outgoing Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Phnom Penh today on the sidelines of the ASEAN and East Asia Summits in Cambodia. Details of the talks are awaited. Speaking on board Prime Minister’s special aircraft, Commerce Minister Anand Sharma yesterday said that India expects continuity and stability in its relations with China, its largest trading partner.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh held separate meeting with the President of Philippines. Secretary, East, Sanjay Singh said the issue of terrorism and menace of piracy figured prominently in the discussions. In his discussions with Singapore Prime Minister, intensifying economic engagement with the ASEAN and concluding comprehensive economic partnership agreement hogged the lime light. On the side lines of the summit some more bilateral meetings are expected to take place.
