Asain shares today gained trading in a narrow range except for China's Shanghai Composite index which slipped 0.2 percent. Japan's NIKKEI-225 climbed one percent and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained half a percent.

South Korea's KOSPI rose 0.4 percent and Singapore's Straits Times added 0.3 percent.

European shares were up in intra-day trade. London's FTSE-100 rose 0.6 percent, France's CAC climbed 0.9 percent and Germany's DAX was up 1.1 percent when reports last came in.
