In Uttar Pradesh, the central Bureau Investigation, CBI has arrested former Chief Medical Officer CMO Dr. AK Shukla in connection with murder of the then CMO family welfare Dr. Vinod Arya in Lucknow today.

Our Lucknow correspondent reports that Dr. Shukla has been taken into custody for hatching conspiracy for killing of Dr. Arya. He was called by the probe agency late last night for interrogation and later he was taken into custody.

Dr. Arya was murdered on October 27 2010 near his residence in Vikas Nagar area in the state capital while coming out for morning walk.

It has been alleged that Dr. Shukla had hired assassins to kill Dr. Arya due to official rivalry. The special Task force of state police has arrested three persons in connection with the murder of Dr. Arya.

Dr. Shukla was on bail in NRHM scam probed by the CBI.
