Arunachal Pradesh: KVIC revives 1000-yrs old Handmade Paper-making art of Tawang

<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">In Arunachal Pradesh, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission(KVIC) is playing a crucial role in preserving and restoring old traditional art and cultrual practices through its assistance and promotional cum awareness activities.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"> </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Due to the dedicated efforts of Khadi and Village Industries Commission, KVIC, the 1000 years old traditional art of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, Monpa Handmade Paper Industry, which had become almost extinct, has now come alive once again. The Monpa Handmade Paper-making art originated over 1000 years ago and gradually became an integral part of the local customs and cultures in Tawang. For the last 100 years, this handmade paper industry had almost disappeared; and it has now become functional again in the year 2020 with the help of KVIC. Mr. Manoj Kumar, Chairman Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) who recently visited Tawang congratulated the artisans associated with Monpa Handmade Paper Industry and said that there is a good demand for traditional handmade Monpa papers in the international markets, and it will be the endeavor of KVIC to bring recognition to the Monpa handmade paper of Arunachal Pradesh in the international market, thereby generating more and more employment.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"> </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #222222;">Khadi and Village Industries Commission is also executing other activities for the growth of various village industries like pottery, chemical-based polymer and fiber-based, agro-based, bee-keeping, and other forest-based activities in the state.</span></p>
