<br/>Arunachal Pradesh Governor General Retired J.J Singh has called for completion of the bridge over Siang River by 2012 in Upper Siang district. General Singh, who was on a two-day maiden visit to Yingkiong yesterday, inspected the ongoing construction of the bridge and took stock of the hurdles faced by the department in completing the project on time. <br/><br/>Yingkiong, situated on the left bank, is connected with the right bank with the 300 metre foot suspension bridge called as Gandhi Bridge as it was sanctioned by the then Prime Minister Late Indira Gandhi during her visit in the early seventies. <br/><br/>PWD Executive Engineer Gobo Yirang informed that works on the 25 crore rupees steel suspension bridge with 300 meters span and 4.25 meter carriageway started in July 2006. Proposed to be completed by March 2011, Yirang, however, expressed doubts due to frequent landslides and lack of approach roads.
