Arunachal Pradesh: DRL Tezpur conducts workshop on "Use of Innovative Technology for Value addition in Local Resources"

<span style="color: #222222;">Defence Research Laboratory, DRDO, Tezpur today organised a workshop on "Use of Innovative Technology for Value addition in Local Resources" at Tippi Village, Bhalukpong in Arunachal Pradesh. The purpose of the workshop was to impart skill development and training on Banana Fiber generation to Tippi villagers located in Bhalukpong, West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh. The programme aims to enable the farmers of Tippi Village to generate income and enhance livelihood by selling of Banana fibers and handicraft items made from it.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Dr. Sanjai K Dwivedi, Director, DRL, Tezpur highlighted the importance of skill development of farmers and use of innovative technologies for value addition in local resources and to generate income. Lakhuman Sekang, Chairperson of Tippi Village and various state officials of Bhalukpong delivered the lectures on the importance of skill development of farmers for enhancing their livelihood.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Demonstration and training on Banana fiber generation, Oyster Mushroom cultivation and Vermicomposting were given to 65 farmers of Tippi village present in the workshop. Various other products of DRL were also exhibited during the workshop. Awards were given to farmers for producing quality banana fibers, using fiber extractor machine.</span><br />''
