Some of the newly appointed ministers today took charge of their ministries. They include Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Law and Communition Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot and Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, Power Minister Piyush Goyal, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sarvanand Sonowal also assumed their charge.
While assuming the office Finance Minister Jaitley told reporters that containing price rise, restoring confidence of investors in the economy and promoting growth with focus on control on fiscal deficit are his top priorities.
He said the new government will spell out its policy within few days to deal with the main challenges facing the country's economy.
Mr Jaitley, who also assumed additional charge of Defence ministry, said concern over slowdown in decision-making in defence and expediting modernisation will be top priority.
