Some of the newly appointed ministers today took charge of their ministries. They include Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Law and Communition Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot and Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, Power Minister Piyush Goyal, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sarvanand Sonowal also assumed their charge.
While assuming the office Finance Minister Jaitley told reporters that containing price rise, restoring confidence of investors in the economy and promoting growth with focus on control on fiscal deficit are his top priorities.
He said the new government will spell out its policy within few days to deal with the main challenges facing the country's economy.
Mr Jaitley, who also assumed additional charge of Defence ministry, said concern over slowdown in decision-making in defence and expediting modernisation will be top priority.
Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today said improving the economy and building up the investors confidence are the priority area of the government.
Assuming the charge of his ministry in New Delhi, Mr. Pradhan admitted there are several challenges before his ministry which will be tackled after detailed discussions with all stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Rural Development Minister Gopinath Munde also assumed charge.
Minister of State in Prime Minister Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh also assumed charge of his office.
He told reporters that government is open to having debate on Article 370 which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Singh said he will also work towards restoring credibility of Central Bureau of Investigation.
Food Processing Industries Minister, Harsimrat Kaur Badal while assuming the charge said that she will make efforts to ensure remunerative prices to farmers for their produce.
