Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, who is now in Srinagar on a two day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, met the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah this afternoon. While details of the meeting are awaited, Omar Abdullah in a tweet described the meeting as very productive.

Accompanied by Chief of Army Staff General Bikaram Singh, Mr. Jaitley was earlier briefed about the over all situation in the State at Badami Bagh Cantt by senior army officers.

During his maiden visit to the valley as Defence Minister Mr. Jaitley is also scheduled to meet the State Governor N. N. Vohra later today.

The Defence Minister is scheduled to visit some forward posts in North Kashmir tomorrow and will also Chair a meeting of unified headquarters in Srinagar before winding up his visit.
