Arun Jaitley launches digital version of Mahatma Gandhi's collected work

Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley today paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and said it was hard to imagine another person with his stature, vision and inspiration. Speaking at a function after releasing an e-version of the collected works of Mahatma Gandhi, Mr Jaitley said the Publications Division had in 1994 published the collected works of Mahatama Gandhi in book form with an edition of it in Hindi as well. He said, the digital version is a collector's item and can also be accessed on the internet for people around the world to use as a resource for reference.<br/><br/>Highlighting the versatility of Mahatama Gandhi, Mr Jaitley said that the amount of things he had spoken or written about and the thinking behind that, for somebody of this generation to acquire that kind of knowledge is near impossible. Mr Jaitley said, Gandhiji was a lawyer by education and could write on medicine, economic affairs, issues related to Independence movement, social issues, global relationships, religion and there may be hardly a subject on which he may not have spoken on written.<br/><br/>Among others, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Information and Broadcasting secretary Sunil Arora were present. The 100 volumes of Mahatma Gandhi's complete works are contained in two DVDs and officials said that the ministry will soon follow with a Hindi version of the e-publication.

Arun Jaitley launches digital version of Mahatma Gandhi's collected work

Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley today launched the e-version of the 100 volumes of the Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jaitley said, the collected works of Mahatma Gandhi are a treasure that India offers to the world. He also congratulated scholars involved in the compilation of Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi, CWMG. Mr Jaitley said society will be immensely benefited with the new e-version. He said the historic speeches of Mahatma Gandhi have been immortalised through the digital version.<br/><br/>Authentic documentation of Mahatma Gandhi's available writings was carried out under the CWMG project. The project commenced on September 1956 and concluded on 2 October 1994, with the publication of the 100th volume.
