Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said that current financial year is not a conventional year as many major reformative decisions have been taken during the year. He said the banking sector is the backbone of country's economy and stressed the need for out of box thinking about what the government and banks can do for the sector.Mr. Jaitley was addressing the pre-budget consultative meeting with the representatives of Banks and Financial Institutions in New Delhi yesterday. The Minister said that he does not see any serious challenges as far as structural changes are concerned.During the meeting, it was suggested that some sort of exemption need to be given to senior citizens under the Income Tax Act post -demonetization. Suggestions were also made that the Budget should focus on boosting the consumption to create demand after demonetisation and on other issues.
