Arrested RSS activist under NIA custody till Feb 24

In Haryana, a former RSS activist Kamal Chauhan, who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for his role in the Samjhauta Express blasts close to Diwana railway station near Haryana`s Panipat town in February 2007 produced before a Panchkula court of Additional District and Session Judge Kanchan Mahi on Tuesday.

The court granted the NIA his custody till February 24 for questioning him on his alleged role in the blasts. NIA counsel told the court that Chauhan, a resident of Indore underwent training in handling of weapons and explosives. He got training at Karni Singh shooting range in Faridabad, he also took arms and explosives training at Bagli in Devas of Madhya Pradesh.

A total of four bombs were planted in the train, according to NIA, Chauhan placed one of the four bombs in the Lahore bound train and he had been on NIA radar from a year.
