A US grand jury has again indicted Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade who was accused of Visa fraud and under paying her housekeeper. A US judge dropped virtually identical charges against her two days ago on the ground that she enjoyed diplomatic immunity. She has always denied any wrongdoing.
Ms Khobragade was detained in New York in December last on suspicion of Visa fraud and making false statements, after being accused of paying her Indian maid below the US minimum wages.
India has expressed disappointment over the second indictment of its diplomat Devyani Khobragade. Terming the step as unnecessary, External Affairs Ministry spokesman, Syed Akbaruddin, in a tweet, said that the case has no merit.
