Arrest of Madani likely to be delayed

The arrest of People's Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasar Madani is likely to be delayed, in view of the three day visit of President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil to Kerala, which begins tomorrow. With several police personnel deployed for security duty elsewhere in the wake of the VVIP visit, the Karnataka police team appears to be left with little option. Madani himself has expressed willingness to cooperate with the police and has asked his followers not to take law into their hands. However, the police is not likely to take the risk and allow things to go beyond their control, in case a law and order situation arises. AIR correspondent reports, Abdul Nasar Madani is now staying at Anwarssery in Kollam district. A large number of his supporters are keeping vigil, besides holding a protest meet and fast outside his residence. Apart from the team already in Kollam to execute the arrest, another Karnataka police team is reportedly on its way to Kollam from Bangaluru
